The first version of the hotend for the CraftBot 3 is picking up ooze a lot, as the bottom is bare metal and rough. When picking up ooze it accumilates and eventually drops burned lumps of filament at unwanted spots of your print.
The next v2 generation of the hotend of the CraftBot 3 is now covered at the bottom as well with silicone. The downsite of that v2 hotend is that it uses a kind of “Volcano” nozzles, but with another thread than usually used by E3d (0.75mm thread in stead of 1mm). There are limited nozzles available by CraftUnique for the v2 hotend. And not certainly not hardened suitable for Carbon filled filament.
Nevertheless you can choose to exchange the v1 hotend for a v2, but the costs are high: 2 x 90 Euro including tax = 180 Euro.
Joep Welling made and tweaked a new silicone cover for the first version of the CraftBot 3 hotend. By printing an mold and using high temperature grade silicone, he made a very flexible and sturdy cover for the craftBot 3 hotend. It’s also covering the bottom of the heaterblock.
By that you won’t have the problem of picking up ooze anymore for limited cost! As they are handmade we have a limited amount available.
